Dance for Peace

Washington PostDancing for Peace-Where there is Truth the Soul Dances (DFP)  which was held by the reflecting pool on Capitol Hill on Saturday, June 13, 2009, organized by Sister Jenna and Abigail Francisco. It was a first in the Nations Capitol. Its aim was to encourage peaceful actions for all to recognize that peace is not a sitting down affair but a quality we bring into our actions. The program started with prayers for peace represented by twelve different faiths. Abigail Francisco, represented the Allan Kardec Spiritist Group of North Beach, Maryland with a prayer of peace from Joanna de Angelis.

Sister Jenna, director of Brahma Kumaris in Washington DC and Abigail Francisco, the owner and Artistic Director, of Abigail Francisco School of Classical Ballet, go way back when she had called on Abigail in need of dancers for public event for the National Press club in 2005. Since then Abigail School of Classical Ballet has participated in many events, but none quite as invigorating and monumental as Dancing for Peace which engaged all in peaceful actions. Abigail, commitment to the arts, acted as the Artistic Director and stage manager of the event. Beautiful dancers lit up the audience at the Capitol and now there is talk about making Dancing for Peace an annual event.

As we move on from here, many more initiatives that promote peace, and spirituality as a natural way of life will continue to usher through into the city. Abigail and Sister Jenna both women off spiritual convictions have offered many insights on how two women from two different backgrounds can work so well and honestly with each that world benefit takes place not necessarily through their choice of spiritual path, but because of the wellness of spirit that comes from their path.
